A

tourism that attracts large number of people due to the site’s scenic beauty. These sites provide tourist facilities such as shopping centres and hotels. The availability of tourist facilities increases the number of tourists that attracted to that area. These sites get overcrowded during peak periods such as Christmas. People go to these sites for leisure purposes with families to enjoy a short break over the holidays. For example beaches of Phuket in Thailand

roles in promoting tourism

A

Government have to ability to promote tourism by deciding on the number of visitors allowed and deciding the visitors’ length of stay. They can control the entry and exit through flights. Government can decide on the development of attractions and amenities. For example, Universal Studios Singapore. Government ensure the safety of tourist sites. Government create authorities called STB to promote tourism via advertisement. However, other restrictive government such as North Korea do not allow tourists to enter and development of attractions so tourism is low
media
Media can promote tourism through news, television and radio. They can report about the friendliness of the locals, the interesting cultures and the safety of the country. For example, Singapore is known to be the cleanst and safest country in the world as there almost zero litter found on the floor as there are rubbish bins everywhere and you will get fined with you are caught littering .

A

better and affordable transport as it has shorter travel time and is much safer. It is cheaper as it uses a smaller aircraft which uses lesser gas to operate such as budget airlines.

+ Employment opportunity
The growth of tourism has increases number of tourism-related jobs. Directly-related tourist jobs are tour guides, travel agent and hotel staffs. Indirectly-related jobs are taxi drivers and shop owners
- underused facilities
Facilities are underused when there are only a few tourists. Some places are only built for special events and are not used when the events are over. For example, the 2008 olympic games in Beijing China had to be renovated again to stay attractive for toursists

+ preservation of local and cutural customs
Encourage government to protect the way locals live, heritage and their religion practices so toursists can learn about it and understand out culture better. For example, the Singapore hawker culture.
- increased crime rates
tourists carrying expensive goods are at risk of robbery. Tourists may get scammed into buying things. For example, in France people purposely put their drawings on the floor so if you accidentally step on it you will have to pay for it.

environmental impacts of tourism

A

pollution as aircraft and other vehicles releases large amount of greenhouse gases. The tourists may litter everywhere making the country dirty. They may step on plants and pluck beautiful flowers causing damage to our greenery.
