Additive: nutrient broth
Sent to: microbiology
Sterilized w chloraprep
- never repalpate
- use end of swab stick to make divet to identify vein. Use butterfly needle

Test: x2 blood culture (2 bottles per arm)
Adults: 8-10ml
Children: 1-3ml
Newborns: 1ml

Collection method:
Aerobic is 1st
Anaerobic is 2nd
