What can trigger TLS?

A

usually triggered by the introduction of combination chemotherapy

OR steroid treatment alone.

What does TLS cause?

A

high potassium
high phosphate
low calcium

suspected in any patient with AKI, high PO4 and high urate

A
  • IVF (0.9% NaCl)
  • allopurinol or rasburicase for prevention
