Q

Cons of case studies

A
  • cant establish cause & effect
  • findings may not generalise to other ppl
  • anonymity issues because case studies focus on rare ppl and so their names may not remane anonymous

One limitation of using a case study is that because you don’t manipulate an independent variable you can not infer a cause and effect relationship. A second limitation of case studies is that because you study just one person their experience might not generalise to other people meaning the results might not be generalisable. A final limitation of using a case study is that because the information is so in-detail and about a rare case, it is likely that the identity of the person will not be anonymous meaning that the study might break the confidentiality ethical guidelines.
