15
Q

What is a strength and a weakness of a closed question?

A

Strength: easy to compare
Weakness: doesn’t tell you about personal experiences, lowers validity.

16
Q

What is an identifying characteristics question?

A

-Where a list of characteristics is given and you tick the ones which apply to you or someone else.

17
Q

What is a strength and a weakness of identifying characteristic questions?

A

Strength: Gives variety of answers (good for screening).
Weakness: Social desirablity bias, lowers validity.

18
Q

What is likert scale?

A

Where someone is given a list of answers to measure behaviour and attitudes.

19
Q

What is a strength and weakness of a likert scale?

A

Strength: easy to do
Weakness: participants may not relate to an answer.

20
Q

What is a rating scale?

A

Evaluates how participants feel on a scale (e.g 1-10)

21
Q

What is a strength and weakness of a rating scale?

A

Strength: easy to do and can compare results graphically
Weakness: subjectives, things can vary form person to person.

22
Q

What is a pilot study?

A

-A test done on a small sample (practice) before doing the test on you actual sample.

23
Q

What are some benefits to doing a pilot study?

A

-Working out alternitive ways (less expensive, wastes less recorces etc)
-Works out all missed ethical issues.
-Checks clarity of questions to ppts.
-Makes sure the study is valid.
