Q

What is this?

A

Koplik Spots - Measles

The first child has measles. This tends to present with prodomal symptoms of fever, cough, runny nose, mild conjunctivitis and diarrhoea. There is often a rash initially on the face and neck which then spreads to the trunk and limbs over 3–4 days. Koplik’s spots are pathognomonic and appear on the buccal mucosa. They occur in 60–70% of patients and usually lasts for up to 2–3 days after the rash disappears. Measles is a notifiable disease.
