What do animals do to increase survival?
use sound to tell other animals that there are predators
What do the vervet monkey’s do?
Produce sounds to worn off predators to tell them about particular dangers like predators like baboons, leapords, lemur’s, pythons
What do alarm calls increase?
Survival as the animals know when to run and hide
What does animal communication not have to be?
Vocal rabbits lift there tail pin back there ears and leap forwards to signal danger
How do animals signal they want to reproduce?
Male peacocks show there plumage of blue and green feathers- brightly coloured plumage show that a peacock is healthy- females often mate more with healthy peacocks so they are able to have healthy offspring
How do animals mark there territory?
Marking there scent by spreaing urine or feases- white rhino’s spread 20-30 pieces of dung to mark there areas
Why are these method’s better than fighting?
Use less energy and makes sure the animal does not get injured- genes of scent marking can be passed on
How do animals tell eachother where food is?
Ants release pherimones that are chemicals to show there choliney where the food is
What system of communication do animals use?
a closed system- they only use there gestures signals and movements to signal the events that are happening right now- compared to human’s communication as it is an open system as we can plan things that are not present like meeting are freinds on a friday night
Why is creativity not featured in animals communcation?
Animals can put different signals together but not in a way that is able to create meaning
Why is human communication use multiple channels ?
Because we have many ways we can communicate we could say what is on are mind or we could text it or even choose to write it down
Why do animals only use a single channel of communication?
because they only have one way of communicating with each other
