A

Meeting foreign leaders and representing Australia at international events. There are many of these and it saves the time of the Prime Minister.

  1. Granting or withholding Royal Assent:
A

This is the formal signing and approval of a “bill” by the Governor General/ Governor after which it becomes “law”. Before signing the bill into law, the Governor General receives legal advice outlining why the bill they are being asked to sign is legal and in accordance with the Constitution. After the Governor General is satisfied this test has been met, the bill is signed into law.

  1. “Appointing” the “Executive Council”
A

Which is another name for the group that includes the Prime Minister and the Federal ministers responsible for each area of government. In reality, the Governor General respects the will of the Australian people and accepts the recommendation of the party that won the election as to who should be appointed Prime Minister and the ministers in the government.
