- terrorism has become an ‘everyday’ worry/issue for people, due to terror attacks over the past 10 years
- people are especially aware of ‘lone wolf’ attacks, where a person randomly attacks with things such as knives or cars and can’t be stopped
- people may be scared to take public transport or attend big concerts due to fear of a terror attack taking place
FOR EXAMPLE: recent studies have shown that people are 45% less likely to go to big concerts due to fearing a terrorist attack

A
- the physical and psychological impacts of terrorism on individuals and families can be severe
- indivuduals may be left with life long injuries and PTSD, psychologically people may never get over a terror attack
FOR EXAMPLE: as a result of terrorism, the UK suffered more casualties than any other EU country in 2017

- islamophobia is the dislike or irrational fear of muslims
- due to islamic extremism, there is a stereotype around muslims
- there has been an increase of islamophobia in western societies due to this stereotype
FOR EXAMPLE: after the 2017 ariana grande concert bombing, there was a 500% increase in islamophobia

A
- in countries controlled by terror groups, it is common that citizens human rights are abused
- in some places music and tv are banned and people are executed by being crucified or stoned for minor crimes or personal reasons
FOR EXAMPLE: in ISIS controlled syria there was no democracy and girls were banned from going to school.

- in contries torn apart by terrorism people have to flee their country for safety
- these people have lost and left theircommunity, homes, jobs and lifestyle
FOR EXAMPLE: in syria millions of people have fled the major cities into other countries, such as turkey because of terrorism

- wars have been launched by the west in countries to target terror groups like ISIS
- innocent people die because of bombs and violence ect. as collateral damage
FOR EXAMPLE: UK drones regularly kill innocent people all over the middle east due to wars that stemmed from fighting terror

A
- war in middle eastern countries has led millions of innocents fleeing the country
- some people are unhappy about accepting immigrants from the middle east due to the threat of them being terrorists
- the UK needs to provide welfare and help to these reffugees to rebuild their lives

- for example over the last few years from syria alone around 500k have fled to germany and around 20k in the UK

- as people believe they may be a drain on our resources as money has to be spent and welfare needs must be met

- terrorism has a huge impact on UK economy as britan are involved in military interventions in the middle east and as a result of terror threat security measures have increased which costs the UK economy
- for example the estimated overall cost of military interventions since the 2000s is estimated to be £25 billion
