A: Transtion to a IF scan and commence UA recovery, climb to 500ft AHO

• NFP should take over ASAP and continue to 500ft AHO

You have had a goggle failure and attempt to hand over but the NFP says nothing, what are your actions?

Answer 2

Forward flight
- Standard IF scan, climb to LASLT

Hover
- Freeze controls, announce it, attempt hand over, turn on landing lights

Question 3

How can you tell you have entered IMC?

Answer 3

Loss of image contrast/more grainy picture
Loss of ground/cultural lighting
Suddenly bring from IR searchlight reflections
Unable to see stars/moon
Increase halo around light sources

Question 4

What are your actions upon entering IIMC?

Answer 4

C - “IIMC, climbing”
A - Switch to IF scan, complete UA recovery as req and start climb to LSALT
- Turn off the search light
- Turn away from last known terrain
- HDG/Airspeed modes engaged once climb is established
- 750 terrain map
