Whats the key features in Bipolar type I
A
- N suffers with intense manic episodes with these symptoms mostly; irritability, a lot of energy, no need for sleep, is very easily distracted, want things done instantly, have a hard time sitting still, she talks constantly and at times spend too much money
- She has these symptoms for at least a week, often more, and she gets psychotic at the end. After the mood period, she often gets depressed
- Only need to have a full blown manic attack once

What is a hypomanic episode?
A
- Same symptoms as manic episode, less “severe”
- 4 days and not a week
- 3 symptoms need ( 4 if mood is only irritable)

What are the key features for Bipolar type II
A
- A person has had several experiences of MDD periods in their life, history
- Got put on antidepressive and got elevated mood

What are the key features for cyclothymic disorder?
A
- At least 2 years of symptoms of both hypomanic episodes and MDD episodes, that has not meet the criteria for either diagnosis
- Present for at least half of the 2 years, with periods of 2 months or more symptom free
