Follow this with the intended effect of this device or opening - what it encourages to think/feel.

A

Find a device following the beginning of the article, quoting it and stating what it is, like an appeal, hyperbole, etc. (Possibly Rebuttal).

Follow this with its effect/what it creates a sense of within the reader.

A

Follow this with another device/quote with another section of the text after the previous. State the effect of the device - like building credibility, effect on audience. (Possibly Rebuttal).

4th part

A

Finally, state how the author concludes their piece - most likely with a call to action (which can indicate an urgent tone!), and what this device/ending encourages the audience to feel/think.

Finish this paragraph off with a sentence relating to the effect on the audience of the device/statement you just mentioned. How, by appealing to a reader’s sense of something (logic/moral compass/etc), the author is able to encourage the audience to do something.
