Sexual and Asexual reporuction Flashcards

1
Q

Describe Sexual Reproduction

A

Sexual reproduction requires 2 parents and relies on Fertilisation (The fusion of gametes). Due to the fusion of the male gamete with the female gamete offspring show lots of genetic variation and look different from one another.

Q

Describe Asexual Reproduction

A

Asexual reproduction is reproduction with only one parent. Due to this there is no fertilisation this no fusion of gamete’s which means all offspring look identical and show no genetic variation.

17
Q

What is pollination?

A

Pollination is the transfer of pollen grain from the anther of one flower to the stigma of another.

18
Q

how can pollen be transferred?

A

Via insect/animal or by wind
