Management PERT and CPM w7 Flashcards
whta does CPM and PERT stand for
CPM= critical path method
PERT= program evaluation and review technique
what does CPM and PERT do
CPM identifies the critical path in a project, which is the sequence of activities that determines the shortest possible duration to complete the project. It helps in scheduling tasks based on their dependencies and durations.
PERT is a statistical tool that incorporates uncertainty in project management by using three time estimates for each activity (optimistic, pessimistic, and most likely). It calculates the expected time for each activity and helps in understanding the probability of completing the project within a certain timeframe.
what is the difference between AON and AOA
AON= activity on node
- nodes show activities and arrows show precedence relationship
AOA= activity on arrow
- arrows show activities and nodes are events for points in time
what is:
- path
-critical path
- critical activities
path= connected sequence of activities leading from the start event to the ending event
critical path= longest path time (duration)
critical activities= all of the activities that make up the critical path
what is ES and EF and state EF formula
ES= earliest start time
EF= earliest finish time activity can finish
EF=ES+t
what is LS and LF and state LS formula
LS= latest start time
LS=LF-t
LF= latest finish time
- latest time an activity can be completed without delaying critical path time
define float and its formula
float=LS-ES=LF-EF
float is the maximum amount of time that this activity in its complete before it becomes a critical activity
