What is a lab experiment?
An experiment conducted in a controlled, artificial environment.
Whats a field experiment?
An experiment conducted in a real-world setting outside the lab.
Whats a natural experiment?
An observational study in which nature itself manipulate the variables.
Whats correlation?
A statistical measure indicating the strength and direction of a relationship between two variables.
Whats the difference between naturalistic and controlled observation?
Naturalistic - observing behaviour in its natural setting without intervention.
Controlled - observing behaviour under controlled conditions.
Whats the difference between participant and non-participant observation?
Participant - the observer is actively involved in the situation
Non-participant - the observer remains separate from the situation.
Whats the difference between covert and overt observation?
Covert - participants are unaware of being observed.
Overt - participants are aware they are being observed.
Whats a questionnaire?
Research consisting of written questions for participants to answer.
Whats the difference between structured and instructed interviews?
Structured - a set of predetermined questions.
Unstructured - open-ended flexible questions.
What are surveys?
Data collection method involving a large sample responding to predetermined questions.
What is meta-analysis?
A statistical method that combines results from multiple studies to draw broader conclusions.
