Q

Christians believe resurrection was essential. How far do you agree (8)

A

-Some Christian’s may believe the resurrection was essential as it demonstrates Gods power, if you say it didn’t happen you are limiting God
-Some Christian’s may believe the resurrection was essential as it shows that Jesus was able to beat death and that good truly won over evil
-Some Christian’s may believe the resurrection was essential as it confirms Jesus was who he said he was, the messiah, and an incarnation of God
-Some Christian’s believe the resurrection was essential as for those who took the Bible literally and see it as Gods word it must be true as Gods word can be trusted completely

HOWEVER

-Some Christian’s may feel the resurrection wasn’t essential as they feel the resurrection isn’t meant to be taken literally, they see it as a metaphor or myth. It shows that Jesus’ power lived on after his death but through his teachings and lives of his followers
-Some Christian’s will argue that Jesus didn’t talk a lot about what happens after death. He was most concerned about teaching people about Gods kingdom in this world while they were alive therefore believing in the resurrection isn’t essential
-Some Christian’s feel that they can’t accept the supernatural elements of the story, as it doesn’t fit with how science understands what a human is therefore believing in the resurrection isn’t essential
-Some Christian’s may feel that the resurrection appearances were a spiritual experience rather than a physical one. This would explain why Jesus wasn’t recognised by his followers in occasions
