Q

What can you use ultrasound for?

A

You can also use ultrasound (high-frequency sound waves) to measure distance. The device measures the time taken for a pulse to travel there and back. It uses this value, and the speed of the pulse, to work out the distance.

Q

What can you use light gates for?

A

You can measure very short periods of time using light gates, as a timer starts and stops when an object interrupts a light beam.
