A

Purpose;
brief description of what the procedure will ensure.

E.g.
Describe how waste should be handeled
improving env. performance
facilitating waste management/waste disposal
aim towards recycling and reuse

A

Scope;
who does it apply to? which parts of the business are covered? etc.

employees (incl. seasonal employees?), restaurant workers, all involved in waste management

A

Responsibilities;
who is responsible for distributing the procedure? who receives feedback? etc.

E.g.
Env. manager for distributing the routine; making it available for all involved
everyone responsible to follow the routine and handle the waste properly

What is step 5?

A

Implementation;
the actual procedure. what should be done by whom?

E.g.
- Corrugated cardboard
- Paperboard
- Paper
- Plastic (some can be hazardous waste, labeled with T=toxic, or risk phrase R-numbers)
- Food waste (never chewing gum, cigarette butts and snuff)
- Hazardous waste (fluorescent lamps/bulbs, batteries, electronics)
- Metal (scrap metal)
- Combustible waste (cannot be recycled)
- Glass (colored and uncolored)
- Cans and bottles with a deposit
- Rest fraction
- Waste oil
- Leftover chemicals

A

Monitoring, record keeping and reporting;
what should be measured? record keeping by whom? what should be reported to whom by whom?

E.g.
logbooks on hazardous (resp. the on that works close to it) and one for other fractions (env. manager)

record keeping on weight and volume
control certificates of the receiver of hazardous waste
the logbook must be kept for ?10 years

Deviations/non-compliance;
who to report if something goes wrong?

E.g.
Deviations or non-conformities related to the waste management must be reported to the env. manager immediately, or department manager if the environmental manager is not available.
