What is Faith?
Faith is the trusting belief in God and what he will say he will do
What are the three elements of faith?
Faith- Confident belief in God and his revelation and a personal response to God’s love and truth.
Hope- Instills trust in God’s salvation, inspiring confidence in the fulfillment of His promises in this life and the next.
Charity (Love) - Emphasizes selfless and unconditional love for God and others,
considered the greatest virtue central to Christian living.
What are practices that can help us express our faith?
Rituals and Sacraments, Prayer, Community and Church
What is prayer?
Prayer is an expression of faith that allows us to communicate with God
What are the categories of prayer?
Formal and Informal
What are the six ways of praying?
Liturgical, formal, expressive, individual, spontaneous, contemplative prayer
Liturgical prayer
participating in the worship of the church
individual prayer
responding to god as an individual
formal prayer
a response that has been composed by others for persons to use in prayer
spontaneous prayer
a response i’m which the person praying uses not prepared words that come at any given moment
expressive prayer
responding to god in a bodily way (singing, dancing)
contemplative prayer
the response to gods presence that happens within a person when that person is alone with god and experiences gods presence
