What is social exclusion from society?
A person is made to feel ‘out of place’ or that they don’t belong to a certain society.
What is spatial exclusion?
Where certain groups are either restricted from or feel ‘out of place’ in certain places.
What is social dislocation?
Where people feel out of place and less connected. These people may feel dissatisfied with their area.
Give an example of social dislocation.
- People living in rented accommodation or short tern housing tenancies.
- People living in deprived conditions who have financial goals.
Describe the ‘Rich door poor door’ conflict in London Canary Wharf.
- A conflict between low income and affluent communities in London where the poor were infuriated about being segregated from the aesthetically pleasing entrances to their own building.
What was the main response of the ‘Rich door poor door’ campaign?
Protests through the streets of London served to challenge this discrimination.
