(1603-1714)
-after Elizabeth’s death, the house of the Stewarts started with James the first king of Scotland in 1603
-after him, King Charles I came to power in 1625
-the political decision was monopolizes by the King, which gave him full decision-making prerogative

A

-they were looking to embrace pure Christianity
-they asked for reforms in the Anglican church
-following their republican rule, England became the first and last Republic between 1649-1660

-in 1640 half of the parliament sided with the king and the other half sided with General Cromwell

-theatres, salons, and cafes were reopened for entertainment
-the arts were renewed
-there was a blossom of trade and science
