Mobility definition
Range of movement over a joint; Ability to fluently move from one action To the other
Mobility exercises
Swings; Start swinging, wrapping your arms around your torso, then add a bounce every time you wrap, increasing the range of arm swing. Every week, increase the plie.
Mobility - why you need
Reduces risk of injury, increases the ability
to perform more complex movements, actions look more fluid and smooth
Isolation definition
Independent movement of one body part
Isolation exercises
Tendus; Perform 2 x tendus on each foot, whilst keeping the rest of your
body still. Use the mirror to check your body is still and make corrections where Necessary
Reasons you need isolation
Makes the dance look cleaner, allows the
actions to be clearer, ensures the performance is more accurate
Stamina definition
Sustaining physical and mental energy over time whilst dancing
Stamina exercises
Jogging round the room, performing star jumps/high knees for 30 seconds
one week and every week, increase the length of time by 30 seconds to ensure
stamina is increased.
Stamina reasons we need it
Reduces risk of injury, can perform with energy throughout entire performance, can perform more complex actions
Posture definition
The way the body is held
Posture exercises
Must reference feedback and progress over
