- Beaucoup is often used with a verb.

Victor mange beaucoup. Victor eats a lot.
- Beaucoup de (much/many, a lot of) is followed by a noun.
Muriel fume beaucoup de cigarettes au bureau. Muriel smokes many cigarettes at work.
