What is an electoral system?
A
The method used to calculate the number of elected positions in government that parties are awarded after elections - so how votes are translated into parliamentary seats

What are non-proportional electoral systems? And what are some examples of this?
A
They do not have a close relationship between the % of votes cast for the party and the % of seats they gain in parliament or otherwise e.g. FPTP
