How do you produce static electricity?
When you rub two insulators together you can transfer electrons from one to the other - POSITIVE CHARGES DO NOT MOVE
What is static electricity?
The charge on each object (when two insulators have transferred electrons)
How do you discharge an object?
By removing the charge - you connect it to something that allows the charges to flow (metal)
How do positive and negative charges interact?
Out the positive and into the negative
What is current?
The rate of flow of charged particles
Why can’t current flow in a vacuum?
There are no particles for the electricity to travel through
What is a millamp (mA)?
1 x 10^-3 Amps
Which way does current flow?
From the positive terminal to the negative terminal (positive charge moves in the same direction as this).
Which way do electrons move in a current?
From the negative terminal to the positive terminal
What is conventional current?
A current opposite to electron flow (a regular current)
What is the formula for charge flow?
Current (A) x time (s)
What is charge flow (charge) measured in?
Coulombs
What are Amps equal to?
Coulombs per second
