Q

Polytechnics replaced Colleges of Technology with a focus on teaching and learning applied and employable schools skills rather than research in order for the worker drones to be able to generate more shareholder value for the 1% ☭
Many new Universities were founded in the ’60s including Warwick York Lancaster Bath and charters given to other

this lead to much more accessible higher education which along with the open univeristy attempted to alleviate the middle and upper class domination of higher education, who still gravitated towards the old universities so perhaps parity was not achieved

16
Q

When did the Open Univeristy begin its courses

A

Established HQ in ‘69 and first courses started in ‘71

17

Through radio and tv allowing people to pursue higher education; originally known as the Univeristy of the Air(harold wilson was pretentious-get it cos radio!!!!) by 1980 had 70,000 students-great success and still around today
especially good in supporting the marginalised who wouldnt have traditionally attended uni
