Fish and chips became the original fast food of the working-class man and even today a day at the seaside would not be the same without an ice cream. One of Scotland’s most famous cafes, Nardinis was opened in 1935, which provided generations of holidaymakers with their world famous ice cream.

Levi Myres was the first record of a Jewish graduate from a Scottish University in 1787 which was Glasgow University.
Asher Asher was the first Jewish doctor in Scotland in 1856. In Glasgow today there are 6 synagogues, a yevisha (college), a gold club, community newspaper and more. There is even a Jewish tartan.

In 1918 there were over 400 Catholic schools in Scotland which accounted for approximately 15% of all publicly funded schools. Around 90% of Catholic parents used Catholic Schools.
