What is habitus?
A
- Refers to the learners ways of thinks, being and acting that are shared by a particular social class. It’s a shared framework of behaviour within a particular group, made of social, cultural, economic and educational factors. A group’s habitus is formed as a response to its position on the class structure.
- Schools has a middle class habitus which gives middle class pupils an advantage while working class culture is seen as inferior
