- Need to cut funding to pay of country’s debt but was argued it was just to keep taxes low

- The standards in school have increased
- The gap between different level of students have decreased
- Achieved this as well as spending less

- Reduced funding for other education authority schools ( advantages middle class parents )
- Removal of EMA lowered the rate of staying on in further education
- Inequalities still remain
