A

Locate fibula on lateral side of leg and run fingers up until you find head (LCL and biceps femoris attach here)

How do you palpate the patella?

A

Make sure you go all the way round! Quads and patella tendons attach here

How do you palpate tibial tuberosity?

A

locate tibia on anterior side of shin and run fingers up until you find tuberosity

How do you palpate tibial plateau aka joint line of knee?

A

Run thumbs up tibia to tuberosity. Shift slightly above it and press thumbs all the way out to sides of knee (meniscus situated here)

How do you palpate the condyles and epicondyles of the knee?

A

Find tibial tuberosity – palpate out along joint line – on either side epicondyles are widest part of outsides of bottom of femur. For condyles you can palpate the outer ridge
