A

Ask patient to walk two fingers straight down from their belly button until they are on a bony prominence. You palpate by using their fingers

A

Supine. Hands on iliac crests, then work round to ASIS and palpate round

A

Prone. Palpate from ASIS (if you can or as close to the front as possible) all the way along crests to find PSISs (bumps just by SI joints)

A

Lying on side with bottom knee bent. With palm feel up side of femur then palpate around

A

Supine. Ask them with two fingers to trace from below belly button to public symphysis. Then you put your hand on top and use theirs to palpate around

How to palpate the joint line of the hip?

A

Supine. Palpate up outer thigh to find greater trochanter. Then locate ASIS. They locate pubic symphesis. In between those 3 points is joint line – press on it with your thumb as you use their leg to flex their hip
