The Exposure Trinity Flashcards
What 3 elements that affect the exposure of an image?
- Shutter Speed.
- Aperture
- ISO.
Name 3 functions of each element on the exposure trinity?
- Aperture controls how wide a lens will open, effectively controlling how much light is let into a lens.
- Shutter Speed controls the speed at which a shutter of a camera will open and close.
- The ISO controls how sensitive your sensor is to light.
What is the rule for Shutter Speed?
The slower the shutter speed, the more motion blur you’re going to see.
What is the rule for ISO?
The higher the ISO, the more noise you’re going to get.
What is the rule for aperture?
The lower the t-stop number, the shallower the depth of field.
How does a low t-stop affect light?
low t-stops means more light enters the camera whereas a high t-stops means less light enters the camera.
The amount of light let into the aperture is measured in…
- T-Stops / F-Stops.
How do you minimise noise on a higher ISO?
- You use a camera with a higher dynamic range.
How do you achieve an image with everything in focus?
- A wide lens
- A high T-Stop
Is 1/80 a fast or slow shutter speed?
It is fast.
Is 1/3000 a slow or fast shutter speed?
Fast
Is 1/3 a fast or slow shutter speed
Slow.
What is the Alexa Mini’s native ISO?
800.
Explain how a camera captures an image:
- Light enters the apeture.
- The shutter then opens up so that light can enter the sensor.
- The sensor then captures the image.
