Mitral Stenosis
A
Loud S1 murmur, low pitched, mid-diastolic; apical “crescendo” rumble.

Mitral regurgitation
A
Systolic murmur at 5th intercostal space mid-clavicular line (apex); **may radiate to base or left axilla; **musical, blowing or high pitched; may follow an S3.

Aortic stenosis
A
Systolic, “blowing,” rough harsh murmurs at the 2nd right ICS usually radiating to the neck.

Aortic regurgitation
A
Diastolic, “blowing,” murmur at 2nd ICD.

A
Apex= 5th ICS=mitral
Base=2nd or 3rd ICS=aortic
