hyperplasia of basal cells
what is acanthosis and what causes it?
acanthosis causes darkening & thickening of skin
its caused by hyperplasia of stratum spinosum
what is ATROPHY in epithelial reactions?
reduction in viable layers
what is EROSION in epithelial reactions?
partial thickness loss
what is ULCERATION in epithelial reactions?
full thickness loss with fibrin on surface

disordered maturation (growth) in a tissue

Granulation tissue
Found - any mucosal site
Cause: trauma
what is a fibroepithelial polp?
a type of reactive hyperplastic lesion usually caused by trauma.
Hyperplasia through fibrin deposition
what medications can cause fibrous overgrowths?
- antihypertensives
- anti-epileptics
- immunosuppressants
