Arctic council:

A

•More than 4 million people live in the arctic.
•40% of Canada’s land mass.
•Source of diamonds, petroleum, and other valuable minerals. Determining “who owns what” has become a big issue.
•Increasing importance to define borders and territories.
•To attend to these issues and to ensure peaceful resolution and cooperation through multilateralism, the Arctic Council was formed.
