IV CATHETER REMOVAL

A
  1. Move roller clamp on tubing to closed position.
  2. Remove any tape securing the tubing, stabilize catheter.
  3. Pull tape and transparent dressing to insertion sits avoid vein.
  4. Hold dry, sterile gauze over the site, pull out slowly parallel to skin.
  5. Apply pressure for 2-3 minutes for no bleeding.
  6. Apply gauze and tape over the site.
