Who was William Harvey?
(1578-1657)
A lecturer of anatomy in London, who discovered the circulation of blood.
When did William Harvey Publish his findings of the Heart and what did it additionally contain?
1628 ,with additional contents of detailed diagrams
How did Harvey prove Vesalius right in his theory of blood flowing toward the heart?
Using dissected bodies and pumps to show how blood only flowed one way.
How else did Harvey (by research of Versailles) prove Galen wrong?
By proving that blood could not be produced by the liver and absorbed into the body.
What new technology influenced Harveys thought process?
Mechanical water pumps, -making him think the human body could work similarly.
What was Harvey’s importance?
Proved Galen wrong- bringing into question his other theories

He improved it and passed on the medical knowledge- and by 1700 his work was taught in medical schools
