Q

what are chain isomers?

A
  • caused by different arrangement of the carbon skeleton
  • similar chemical properties (same functional group)
  • slightly different physical properties
  • more branching = lower boiling point

Q

what are position isomers?

A
  • molecule has the same carbon skeleton
  • molecule has the same function group but the functional group is in a different position
  • similar chemical properties
  • different physical properties
