Q

What is OAT, SAT and TAT?

A

OAT = outside air temp measured at a point NOT in sunlight

SAT = static air temp, the inferred temperature outside an a/c for air NOT affected by movement

TAT = total air temp, sensed temperature outside an a/c affected by adiabatic heating as the air relative to the a/c is slowed to zero

Q

What is ram rise?

A

The difference between SAT and TAT caused by adiabatic heating

SAT = TAT + ram rise
