Reasons for prototyping

A

Cost
Following client and user feedback
User trials
Specialised tools and equipment can be planned for
A manufacturing specification can be produced from a prototype to plan for the cost, material and quantities required to manufacture the item
Once the cost from the manufacturing specification is worked out cheaper materials might be specified to reduce the cost of the object
