A

Immunocompromised with episode of primary or recurrent oral herpes
simplex infection

or healthy people with episode of primary oral HSV infection.

What are dosages of antivirals for HSV oral?

A

Aciclovir
2-18 yrs 200mg five times a day for 5 days

Children 1 month under 2 years-
100mg Five times a day 5 days

immunocompromised-
prescribe double the standard dose

Valaciclovir;
- >12 yrs 500mg BD 5 days or longer if needed
-Immunocompromised- 1000mg BD
