Q

How does PR, Single transferable vote work

A

Voters rank candidate from 1-4. Candidates need to reach a quota. This is the minimum numbers of votes calculated according to the number of seats and votes cast.

The first preference votes for each candidate are added up. Candidates who did not reach the quota are then eliminated and there 2nd rank is then given to the party and then so on until you reach the final were only 1 candidate can remain.
