Registers are determined by such factors as SOCIAL OCCASION, CONTEXT PURPOSE, and AUDIENCE.
TRUE
The formal register is used in professional, academic, or legal settings where communication is expected to be respectful, uninterrupted, and restrained. Slang is never used, and contractions are
rare.
