‘Our’ - he knew so much about them that it doesn’t matter if he was a real policeman or not - Eric now sees that they all played a part in a girls death and they all need to take RESPONSIBILITY. Shows that the younger generation are beginning to see the positives of socialism.

‘Nicely’ - he can see that Mr and Mrs Birling do not care and have not learned anything. He sees how wrong and hypocritical this is. As they represent CAPITALISM, he can now sees the problem with it.

‘Rotten story’ - it doesn’t matter if the police inspector was real - they all acted horribly and someone has died as a result and Eric is able to see the error of their ways.
