Q

What is Rehearsal (STM)?

A
  • Items can be maintained within the STM for longer periods of time
  • Repeating a piece of information several times
  • Helps transfer to LTM

Q

What is Serial Position Effect (STM)?

A
  • When information is viewed in a sequence, the first and last few pieces of information are remembered best
  • First pieces are remembered as there has been enough time for rehearsal and gets transferred to LTM
  • Middle pieces are forgotten about as STM is crowded
  • Last pieces of information is remembered because they are fresh in the STM
