Q

What do you do if you are alone and you witness a sudden collapse of peds patient and noticed there is no breathing or pulse for 10 seconds?

A

Activate emergency response system and retrieve AED/defib

17
Q

If there was no sudden collapse OR there was and you activated emergency response system and retrieve AED/defib in a peds patient that is not breathing and has no pulse, what is the next step for 1 rescuer? What if another rescuer arrives?

A

start chest compressions 30 compressions for each 2 breaths

use AED asap

if a 2nd rescuer arrives, do 15 compressions and 2 breaths

18
Q

If you are still alone after 2 minutes after starting CPR in peds, what do you do?

A

activate emergency response system and retrieve AED

19
Q

After activating AED and performing CPR for 2 minutes and alone, what do you do?

A

Check if rythm is shockable and follow adult guidelines

20
Q

What are the differences in management if you have a 2nd rescuer for BLS for peds?

A
  1. 2nd rescuer activates emergency response system and retrieves AED and emergency equipment AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, while other rescuer stays with the child

otherwise the same :)
