Factors Affecting Flashcards
What are limiting factors?
-when one of the factors needed for a plant to photosynthesise is in short supply
-it reduces the rate of photosynthesis
What are the 3 factors that affect photosynthesis?
- light intensity
- CO2 concentration
- temperature
How does a decrease in light affect photosynthesis?
= decreased rate of LDR = reduced ATP + NADP
-ATP + NADPH are needed to convert GP to TP
-conc of GP increases, conc of TP decreases
-less TP to regenerate RuBP = less of it
How does an increase/decrease in temperature affect photosynthesis?
-enzyme + substrate molecules have less KE = fewer successful collisions = reduced rate or reaction
How does a decreased CO2 concentration affect photosynthesis?
-decrease conc of GP and TP
-conc of RuBP will increase as its still being formed from TP but not used to fix CO2
