The consequences of constructing theories and conducting research.
What is meant by socially sensitive research?
Research where there are potential consequences either directly for the pps in the research or for the class of individuals by the research.
What are some possible implications of research?
-Pps suffering due to lack of protection from harm.
-The public forming negative stereotypes about a group of people due to findings.
-Groups suffering discrimination or leading to a self fulfilling prophecy.
How should psychologists deal with socially sensitive research?
-Carefully form research qs.
-Peer review.
-Considering the possibility of findings being misused.
-Reflexivity: researcher should consider their influential position and self reflect on any biases.

- Bowly’s theory of maternal deprivation suggests that the mother should be the primary CG not the father - may prevent mothers from working due to guilt + male carers may feel inadequate.
