A sound editing technique that links several scenes through parallel and overlapping sounds.
Lightning Mix
Dialogue that restates what is already obvious from images or actions.
On-the-nose Dialogue
The film’s spoken dialogue.
Text
The way that an actor delivers a line of dialogue.
Line Reading
An unstated meaning that underlines and is implied by spoken dialogue.
Subtext
The decibel level at which the dialogue or music is presented.
Volume
A sound’s frequency or position on a musical scale.
Pitch
A direct vocal address to the audience, which may emanate from a character or from a narrating voice.
