A
  • The government is investing in transport infrastructure.
  • For example, HS2 is a high-speed rail link intended to connect London with Birmingham and Manchester in half the current travel time.
  • Theoretically, this connects the north of the UK to the south.
  • However, the northern section to Manchester and Leeds has been scrapped.

A

Lots of men died due to WW2, causing a labour shortage. The UK invited lots of people from the Commonwealth to come to the UK.
People moved from India, Pakistan, and the Caribbean.
Persecution in places like Kenya meant lots of these people migrated to the UK in the 1960s and 1970s
The UK reduced migration from the Commonwealth in 1962 as there was no longer such a labour shortage.
